CarrotFantasy: Save the Vitamins!

When push comes to shove, we really quite like tower defense games. Sure, we’ve played just about every variation possible of the classic concept, but no matter how many times we build a tower, upgrade it, and watch hopelessly as the enemies much at our defenses, we can’t get enough of it. That’s why we’re here to talk about CarrotFantasy by developer Taozi. The game offers nothing completely out of the ordinary for the genre, but is saved by an impressively good set of animations, as well as a killer round of upgradeable towers. If that sounds like something you might have an interest in, keep on reading below the break!
Concept and Gameplay: If you have ever played a tower or castle defense application before, then you’re immediately aware of what’s going on within CarrotFantasy. Rather than having you defend a fort, or some such military establishment though, the game has you defending a large, cute carrot from attacking monsters. These monsters will take bites out of your vegetable until it is finally gone. To protect said carrot, you’ll need to layout various towers and units that range from piles of poo all the way to actual missile launchers. All of which can be upgraded two to three times using cash earned from playing the game. This continues until you’ve completed all the waves necessary for the level, after which you’re passed onto the next set. All in all, it’s a fun mix, though one that doesn’t stray too particularly far from the formula. We did like the addition of boss modes, which added some much needed spice. We also liked the sheer variety in the units and monsters. So to sum it all up, CarrotFantasy is an app that offers classic gameplay in its best possible form.
Design and Graphics: CarrotFantasy for iPhone: But where the app truly excels is in its design: This thing is gorgeous, unique and endlessly entertaining. As mentioned, your varied units are all brilliantly animated, as is the menu interface itself. The carrot will also wiggle and respond to what’s going on in-game, which shows the level of detail that’s maintained here. Everything is connected to everything else, and no matter if it’s one of the game’s three levels or a single monster running along a track, you’ll find it entertaining. There’s a lot to like stylistically with CarrotFantasy, and we can’t get enough of it.
Overall Value: The price is also just about spot-on for what we would expect, making the app a stellar value. In our eyes, a dollar is right on the money for the amount of content and fun that you’ll get out of CarrotFantasy. In other words, it’s a golden bargain wrapped in cute animations and serious gameplay. Which also means that this one comes recommended, especially for fans of this kind of series. So what are you waiting for? Go get it! CarrotFantasy requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.

!! on Geeklog, what a delight to find a person who ultimately knows what they're writing about when it comes to this. You definitely grasp how to bring a problem to light and make it significant. A lot more people should look at this and understand this side of the story. It's surprising you're not more prevalent, because you most certainly have the gift.
